The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. - John 10:10
Right now at this very moment, there are protests going on in cities across America in response to the horrific death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers. We see our society pulled into a racial divide that is growing wider by the minute. What we have to understand, however, is that this is not the end of the story. What do I mean by that?
We are at war with an Enemy of ALL our souls. Jesus told us who the REAL enemy is:
- A thief
- A murderer (John 8:44)
- A liar
This enemy comes to do 3 main things: Steal, Kill, and Destroy. He comes to:
- Steal (thief) – lives, property, etc..
- Kill (murderer) – men, women and children,
- Destroy – people, dreams, families, character
We see evil is played out in our world day after day after day. However, it is not the end of the story. Why? Jesus didn’t end the story there. He told us that He came to give us life and that more abundantly. The life He gives is eternal, yes, but it’s also a life of Redemption.
As we see events unfold in our country, let us pray for the Lord’s Redemptive work to be done in the hearts and minds of people so that it won’t be The End of Their Story. (2 Peter 3:9)
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for giving me access to abundant life through Your Son Jesus Christ. Help me not to lean to my own understanding as I see evil in the world but to trust You for my protection. In Jesus Name, Amen!
